CS academic at University of Maryland, College Park who has frequently served as a Visiting Scholar at Google in the period from 2000 to the present (2011). He was involved with the revision of the JavaMemoryModel and is the creator and maintainer of the FindBugs static analyser for JavaLanguage.

His Computer Science PhD from Cornell University includes a minor in Theater. He has put both to use when presenting the later JavaPuzzlers talks which he co-wrote with JoshuaBloch.
