There are similarities, but significant differences DonaldNoyes.ThinkingOutLoud.20121114

Similarities:
  • They originate or are brought to consciousness in your brain
  • They are important or can be ignored, to be determined in later or elevated process

Descriptions
  • Thoughts
    • are the most active and numerous and the least in significance as regards to their social integration and value
    • fade very quickly from awareness as they are either promoted or ignored
  • Notions
    • are related more to opinion than to formalized and supported thinking and are made activate in the brains recollection mechanism
    • are Thoughts that are matched to perception of need, having possibility of implementation, but are only partial in development and sophistication
    • are worthy enough for a person to document them by writing or recording them
  • Ideas
    • are developed and processed thoughts and/or notions verified as meeting a perceived need and are further integrated into the social fabric by elaboration and exposure
    • are sometimes adapted from other ideas or other's ideas as better solutions or treatments to solve the perceived need they handle
    • that are good should not be forgotten - See - DontLoseGoodIdeas
