History requires historians. E.g. The GreekHistorians: Heroditus, Thucydides, Xenophon, ... The RomanHistorians: Caesar, Livy, .... and the EnglishHistorians: Hume, Robertson...

Modern history doesn't draw exclusively off such sources, though.
