(IRM) had been a very old term for people working on
EnterpriseApplication
s.
This area predates the era of
EnterpriseResoucePlanning
software.
Over the years the role of the
BusinessManager
overseeing the business of
InformationManagement
has been retitled
ChiefInformationOfficer
.

DataManagement
, Database architecting, etc.
DataManagement
was the largest component of the IRM function and it is focussed on treating data more important than applications (functions).
